Starting Up

Good afternoon Readers!

Let me introduce myself.  I am L. Hackman, creator of Jefferjean knits on Etsy.  I am from a small town in rural Mississippi where  the "Delta" meets the hills, literally.  All throughout my years, this edge of the Delta, the farmers grew cotton.  It is growing up around and with cotton that my love of cotton also grew.  The smell and feel of cotton reminds me of warm, happy, summer memories and cool linens on those hot, summer nights.  For the past 2 years I was living in Maryland.  While there I made a few new friends, Amy/Jefita of Jefita.com and Thursday of www.thursdaybram.com .  Amy is a maker of plushies and you can find her wares on Etsy.  Thursday is a freelance writer and business woman. To sum them up, they are Tulsa alumns made of awesomeness.  Also in Maryland, I learned to not only appreciate but thoroughly enjoy wool and its flexibility.  Wool came to my rescue many times during the very windy and cold autumn and winter seasons in Maryland.  You could say it became my newest friend.

Introduction to a Family Tradition
The tradition of crafting has been passed down in my family on both sides.  My grandmother Dot could always be found cooking or sewing blankets.  My grandmother Ruth was always crocheting when she wasn't reading a book or writing about something.  My grandmother Ruth seemed to have almost anything imaginable to craft with.  When I was about 6 years old, she taught me how to crochet.  My interests in crafts have only bloomed since then.

About my Etsy shop...
The name of the shop was named after my mother's only and most beloved doll that she had as a child.  One that could be called "Jeff" or "Jean".
Just like this blog, my shop on Etsy is a very, very new concept brought to life. You should come by and check it out.
